Where AI helps
AI can explain terminology, summarize documents, create comparative question lists and help organize research notes. It is particularly useful for generating counterarguments and clarifying unfamiliar accounting concepts.
Where AI struggles
Models may invent numbers, blend reporting periods, misattribute statements or confidently cite nonexistent sources. Faster answers do not equal reliable investment intelligence.
A safer prompt
Ask for a company overview, required primary filings, three favorable considerations, three opposing considerations, and a list of data that remains unverified. Require the filing date beside each number.
Keep control of your accounts
Never paste brokerage passwords or recovery codes into research tools. Keep financial execution separate from experimental AI workflows.
Practice
Use the Trading Coach research worksheet and attempt to verify every numerical claim against SEC filings or another primary source.
Put it into practice
Explain the main idea in your own words, identify two risks and find a primary source to validate an important claim. Document what you still don't know.
